2024 McClellan CARE Holiday Food Basket Fundraiser

‘Tis the season…to give! In partnership with the Aerospace Museum of California, McClellan Park is hosting its 22nd annual CARE Holiday Food Basket Program. Read on to learn more about this effort to help local families in need this holiday season!

What is the CARE Holiday Food Basket Program?

The 22nd annual fundraiser aims to make the holidays brighter for local families by providing food baskets to those living at or below poverty level. For many of the children in these families, the only meal they may typically receive is the one they have at school – and lengthy holiday breaks around Thanksgiving and Christmas can make those regular meals even fewer and farther between.

The fundraising effort focuses specifically on families with children in schools that are in close proximity to McClellan Park, including F.C. Joyce, Bell Avenue, Madison Elementary, Dry Creek Elementary and Gateway Community Charter School. We’re proud to help make a difference, right here in our community!

What do the baskets provide to recipients?

Families will receive a grocery gift card for perishable items and additional food staples that will help ensure they are prepared for the upcoming two-week winter break. In the spirit of giving, baskets will also include a board game and book for family members to enjoy throughout the holiday season and beyond.

How many baskets are expected to be donated?

This year, we have a goal of raising $32,000 in hopes of providing 250 baskets to local families in need. Thanks to the help of our generous donors from 2023, we were able to accomplish this same goal of making a difference in the lives of 223 families last holiday season!

In fact, since the program kicked off in 2003 we’ve raised nearly $360,000, allowing us to provide food baskets to more than 3,500 local families in need. With the support of this year’s participants, we’re hopeful that our 22nd year of giving will be just as much of a success.
